The event was organized by the "Edunauten" which is a relatively new network to support mobile learning by providing links to appropriate tools, a map with concrete offers, organizations and renting options. The three days were organized in a barcamp style and offered lots of time for the exchange of thoughts and tools. On the second day several interested convention participants used the chance to try out the TidyCity authoring tools in order to built an example mission for the surrounding area. The participants that mostly had a pedagogical background were impressed how easy-to-use the tools were. On the third day the TOTEM.Designer and TOTEM.Scout were presented as more powerful tools for advanced users.

Trackback URL for this post:

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=trackback/170

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/170#comments Mon, 08 Oct 2012 10:53:46 +0000 Lisa.Blum 170 at http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de Tidy City goes TV http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/169
Some camera crews also covered our Tidy City mission at PLACCC in Budapest. It was a great experience and I think we created an interesting mission that does not focus on the famous sights (of which there are plenty in Budapest) but rather on local events and unusual history. The mission is available in Hungarian and English, so you can also try your luck when visiting Budapest next time. It might be a good idea to get a local to help though as otherwise riddles like this might be tricky:

Do not look at the girl!

Last straw? Banking-replacement? Magic? While the ancient alchemists strived to transform base metals to gold, the well-known owner of this outlet transforms gold into Hungarian Ft and produces remarkably tasteful commercials at the same time. In some sense this represents the opposite of one of the figures in another riddle. Another possible hint: despite common sense the shop does not sell chess figures.

Here are some press reports about the game:
Budapester Zeitung (German)
HIR24 (Hungarian)
Nepszava (Hungarian)
Kulturpart (Hungarian)

We would like to thank the great guys from the PLACCC team again for inviting us and the great organization! Köszönöm!

Trackback URL for this post:

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=trackback/167

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/167#comments Budapest Placcc press tidy city Mon, 24 Sep 2012 14:19:59 +0000 richard.wetzel 167 at http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de Tidying up Budapest http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/166
Together with our Tidy City game designer Michael Straubig we are currently in Budapest and preparing a local Tidy City mission. We organized four sessions of aMazing with about 40 players in total. Sometimes we played on Alexanderplatz, sometimes in a park near the Computer Games Museum where the festival took place. Like any quiz, the game consists in answering questions over a given period of time. Unlike a traditional quiz, in order to solve ARQuiz, one has to search for the answers in the physical space. Just look around and, through the camera view of your phone, you’ll see virtual hints embedded in the reality. Go next to one hint, collect it and read the story; the answer is between the lines...

MPEG folks played a version of ARQuiz called MPEG100 ARQuiz containing several questions about the MPEG life.

Trackback URL for this post:

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=trackback/148

http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/148#comments ARQuiz MPEG Augmented Reality Tue, 10 Jul 2012 13:15:11 +0000 mariuspreda 148 at http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de WhereCamp http://totem-project.fit.fraunhofer.de/?q=node/147
On June 22nd to 23rd we attended the WhereCamp 2012 at Beuth University in Berlin (http://wherecamp.de/).

The WhereCamp is a geo unconference for everyone who likes to talk about locations.
